Trends in the renewable energy sector discussed at ARWE 2019 Forum, and the experience of 14 world countries studied

The ARWE 2019 (All Renewable World Energy) International Forum opened in the Ulyanovsk Technological Center on May 22. The Forum is attended by more than 900 people, representatives of various bodies of authority, relevant ministries and departments, leading companies of the sector, the expert community and mass media. The participants come from 14 countries, including Germany, Austria, France, Japan, China, the US and other countries.

The key events of the first day of the ARWE Forum was the Plenary Session entitled "The Future of Renewable Energy in Russia" and the tour of the exhibition by the delegation headed by the Governor Sergey Morozov of Ulyanovsk Region.

"We have already implemented a whole range of projects in renewable energy, and this is a real breakthrough, because after the breakup of the USSR there were no other new industries of sectors started in Ulyanovsk. We are proud that the Forum takes place in our region this time; it represents a gateway into the new era, the new energy future of Russia," Sergey Morozov said. "Development of renewable energy concerns the entire country. The Forum is based exactly on this premise, and its main program this year became even more busy. I think holding a separate Youth Day is very important. Involving young people into the development of renewable energy will us not only to catch up with others but also to join our forces to create principally new things in this direction.

Other speakers at the Plenary Session included Oleg Tokarev, Deputy Director of the Machine-Tooling and Investment Engineering Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation; Igor Bryzgunov, Chairman of the Russian Association of Wind Industry (RAWI); Alexey Kruglov, Deputy General Director for Regional Development at Wind Energy MC LLC; Oleg Barkin, Deputy Chairman of the Board, Market Council NP; Oleg Bochkarev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Military and Industrial Commission of the Russian Federation; Vadim Dormidontov, Vice President for Energy and Housing and Public Utilities, Gazprom Bank and Alexey Zhikharev, Director of the Association for Development of Renewable Energy (ADRE).

For achievements in development of the wind energy sector Sergey Morozov received his Golden Wind Prize. The award was presented during the Plenary Session by the Russian Association of Wind Industry.

The business agenda of the first day was quite busy: The delegates discussed the issues of financing green projects in conditions of Russian realities, the steps that must be taken in the next several years to implement the process of localizing RES equipment, the problem of global energy consumption in the light of the Paris Climate Change Agreement and the main trends in developing the alternative energy in Russia and the rest of the world.

The first in Russia exhibition of advanced technologies and RES equipment will be open throughout the days of the ARWE Forum. The ARWE 2019 event will be completed on May 24 with the Youth Day, which will include an informal meeting between the students and Governor of Ulyanovsk Region Sergey Morozov and the leader of the Leuven Innovation Cluster (Belgium), at the Center for Technology Transfer, Catholic University of Leuven Martin Hinoul.
